About The Artist

Award winning artist, Lori Hess, is a Signature Member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and a past member of the Ohio Watercolor Society. She has studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and with international artists Charles Reid, Judi Betts, Jean Grastorf, Joseph Fettingis, Jean Uhl Spicer and Ted Nuttall. Lori has recently relocated with her husband to the Pacific Northwest.

“The entire process of painting, from concept to completion, is compelling and entirely enjoyable. Very few other activities are as engrossing and rewarding as making art. When something in my life is bothering me, if I go into the studio, it recedes. The creative process brings me back into balance.”

Lori's paintings have been accepted into national and international juried exhibitions. Most recently, The 40th Annual Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors 2021, The 41st Annual San Diego Watercolor Society International Exhibition 2021, The 53rd Watercolor West Exhibition 2021, and the American Watercolor Society Associate Members Exhibition 2021.

Lori has taught watercolor painting in private and group class settings as well as art workshops on exploring watercolors and color theory. She has also been a frequent guest artist for schools and art clubs. Please contact Lori for more information on her classes and portrait commissions.
