About The Artist
Award winning artist, Lori Hess, is a Signature Member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Rocky Mountain National Watermedia, and the Northwest Watercolor Society. She has studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and with international artists Charles Reid, Judi Betts, Jean Grastorf, Joseph Fettingis, Jean Uhl Spicer, Carolyn Lord and Ted Nuttall. Lori has recently relocated with her husband to the Pacific Northwest.
“The entire process of painting, from concept to completion, is compelling and entirely enjoyable. Very few other activities are as engrossing and rewarding as making art. When something in my life is bothering me, if I go into the studio, it recedes. The creative process brings me back into balance.”
Lori's paintings have been accepted into national and international juried exhibitions. Most recently, Transparent Watercolor Society of America 2023, Signature Award in the 54th Watercolor West Exhibition 2022, The 41st Annual Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors 2022, Watercolor USA 2022, Transparent Watercolor Society of America 2022 and the National Watercolor Society Member Exhibition 2022.
Lori has taught watercolor painting in private and group class settings as well as art workshops on exploring watercolors and color theory. She has also been a frequent guest artist for schools and art clubs.
